The Volvo XC90 is back for the 2020 model year with a redesigned exterior, improved comfort, and smoother handling. This stylish SUV promises drivers and passengers a luxurious experience behind the wheel and inside the cabin. Ride in elegance regardless of what trim you choose, of which there are three — the base Momentum, sport-themed R-Design, and luxurious Inscription. Here's a look into what the 2020 Volvo XC90 has to offer.

Exterior

Ride in style in the Momentum, which sports 19-inch wheels, a silver exterior trim, a panoramic sunroof with roof rails, integrated tailpipes, a power tailgate for easy access to cargo, and LED headlights. The R-Design brings a sports appearance package, for 20-inch wheels, a matte exterior trim, and stylish exterior design elements. The Advanced Package, which is available on all trims, adds adaptive headlights and headlight washers.

Comfortable Interior

The elegance of the 2020 XC90 is evident in its interior layout and design. You can experience luxury from the base trim, with premium vinyl upholstery and power front seats with memory settings for the driver's seat. The second row features 40/20/40-split seats with individual slide and recline functions, plus a third-row with 50/50-split seats. Ride comfortably and in privacy with four-zone automatic climate control and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The R-Design features more with premium leather upholstery, sports seats, and power thigh support. The Momentum adds leather upholstery, side support and ventilation for the front seats, and power cushion extension. The Luxury package comes on the Inscription and adds a heated steering wheel and rear seats, front seat massage, a simulated suede headliner, and leather grab handles and sun visors.

Powerful and Capable Ride

The 2020 Volvo XC90 is outfitted with three powerful engines. The least is a T5 engine: a turbocharged 2.0-liter that produces 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The next is the T6 engine, a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain that amps the ratings up to 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The most powerful engine on the XC90 is the T8 plug-in hybrid, which adds an 87-horsepower electric motor and battery to the T6's configurations. This pushes out 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. Its 240-volt Level 2 charger fills the battery in about 2.5 hours, so you can drive for up to 18 miles in electric mode. The T6 engine comes standard on the Inscription and optional on the Momentum, which comes standard with the T5 engine.

The CX90's engines perform very well on the road. Its revised suspension provides incredibly refined handling. You can switch between Eco, Comfort, Off-Road, and Dynamic drive modes

Technology for Entertainment and Safety

The 2020 XC90 is equipped with high-quality technology. Standard features for safety include forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. Front parking sensors and a top-view parking system are also available.

Standard on all XC90s is an intuitive 9-inch touch-screen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto capability. A Wi-Fi hotspot is optional. Sound systems include a Harman Kardon premium or a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
