Volvo Tops 500,000 Mark in 2015

2015 was a great year for Volvo Cars, as the automaker reached the milestone of half a million cars sold for the first time in the company's long history. Volvo received a boost in the second half of the year from the newly-introduced XC90 SUV, and ended the year with a total of 503,127 vehicles delivered.

“I am delighted to report that 2015 was a year of record sales,” said Håkan Samuelsson, chief executive. “Now, with a successful 2015 behind us, Volvo is about to enter the second phase of its global transformation. Once completed, Volvo will have ceased being a minor automotive player and taken its position as a truly global premium car company. More records will tumble in coming years.”

The future looks exciting for Volvo. Upcoming projects including developing 90 and 60 series cars on the Scalable Project Architecture, expanding hybrid offerings, and developing the company's first all-electric vehicle.
